Kaylin
Kaylin was one of three Spring 2021 recipients of the Perpetual Guidance Scholarship. As a senior computer science student at Marist college Kaylin has founded the NSBE chapter on her campus and had internships with IBM. Additionally she has served as a mentor to high school students interested in STEM. Going into her senior year PGS aims to provide her with support on resume writing and interview prep to ultimately land her first job out of college.
"I greatly benefited from the Perpetual Guidance Scholarship. One of my favorite aspects was the fact that the mentors were recent college graduates. This created an instant connection, making it easier for me to seek advice. I also appreciated being able to expand my professional network. Thanks to the Perpetual Guidance Scholarship, I was able to focus entirely on my studies and graduate college debt free.."

AbdulRahman
AbdulRahman was the inaugural recipient of the Perpetual Guidance Scholarship. As a college freshman at community college having to pay international fees without any financial aid, he contemplated taking his second semester off completely to save up for summer classes. With the PG scholarship AbdulRahman was not only able to attend that semester, but was also able to explore career choices.
"This scholarship provided me with the financial support I needed in order to enroll for the semester and the mentorship it's providing me has helped me better understand what I need to do to achieve my personal and professional goals."
-Abdul Rahman(Technology Leadership Innovation Management),
Spring & Fall 2020 Perpetual Guidance Scholarship Recipient
Muhammad
Fall 2020 recipient Muhammad moved to the United States from Pakistan in 2019. Because of residency policies he struggled to afford international fees while also working to support his family. With strong ambition to stay on track with his degree plan, he was able to work part-time and still focus on classes and adjusting to American college system.
"I am incredibly grateful to all the donors who helped make this scholarship possible and all the mentors who helped map out a plan for my career. There was so much I didn’t know about transfer requirements, resumes, and how to find internships-but now I feel a lot more comfortable and I have a plan moving forward."
